I was the only kid who wouldn't come up and visit him. I was mad after he and Mom split up. I had a bad idea about him in my head, and it wasn't until I moved up here that I realized he could've easily just run away. He had five kids. Instead, he busted his butt working 7 days a week, having no life. And I didn't realize.

But I eventually did, and I am glad I got to tell him that. I was also a teenager back then, and I didn't understand the bigger picture. But later on, I was so appreciative that he didn't run off and "have a better life." In reality, I guess we were his life.
